DIY-tip: Patchwork curtain

It is decorative, translucent and inexpensive to make this beautiful kitchen curtain. You can adjust the size by deciding on how many towels you sew together. I recommend using one type of towel in one base color with different patterns.

Usually they come in sets of 3 to 5 pieces. They already then have the same size, weight and structure.

I use a trick to sew them together, that I got to know from sewing lingerie.

The finished curtain is clipped to small curtain loops that hang on a wire rope.

Here is the sewing trick:

I don’t use seam allowance to assemble the towels. I push their sides together and top it with a zig-zag stitch. This avoids having bulky fabric hangovers and makes a nice smooth surface. Here is a picture of the seam that I marked pink. For sewing please always use the thread color that is closest to the base tone of the fabric.
